Many cultural heritage structures have been lost due to natural disasters, wars, and human interventions, leaving profound gaps in humanity's collective memory. However, technological advancements have made it possible to digitally reconstruct these structures. Supported by virtual and augmented reality technologies, the metaverse provides a powerful platform for the reconstruction of lost cultural heritage. Metaverse-based simulations digitally recreate structures that once existed but are no longer physically present, offering users the opportunity to explore these spaces virtually. This process contributes to the preservation of architectural, artistic, and historical contexts, aligning with the mission of international organizations like UNESCO to safeguard cultural heritage. The aim of this study is to examine the contributions of metaverse-based historical building simulations to the preservation, sustainability, and educational role of cultural heritage. Additionally, it analyzes the technologies used in this process and their potential for overcoming challenges in faithfully reconstructing lost heritage within digital environments.
