The design of the work environment affects employee motivation and productivity. Therefore, the work environment needs to be organized to provide the ideal setting and incorporate optimal solutions suitable for its function. Ignoring this necessity leads to various risks and hazards for employees due to the design of the space. Based on this premise, this study investigates the risks and hazards encountered in existing public buildings. The research has provided data on the topics that should be prioritized in the design of future work environments and the creation of occupational health and safety course content related to the field. The analysis revealed that occupational health and safety issues predominantly focused on hospitals and university laboratories. The studies highlighted noise, ergonomics, thermal comfort, lighting, and ventilation as key elements causing risks and hazards related to space. The research has provided data on topics that should be prioritized in the design of future work environments and in the development of occupational health and safety course content for the field. Increasing studies and knowledge/culture in the field of interior architecture will contribute to making working environments healthier and safer.
Şengül Yalçınkaya Emre Tunar Copyright (c) 2024 Sekizgen Academy https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2024-07-14 2024-07-14 4 1 1 10 10.53463/8genart.202400280 Reading Semiotic Orientation In Interior Architecture Project Process Through Student Projects https://sekizgenacademy.com/journals/index.php/8genart/article/view/276
As an object of communication, space offers various identities to the user as a result of the subject-space interaction by transforming its physical elements into objects of communication. Interior semiotics, which focuses on the process of understanding and interpretation of this event, deals with the sensations created by the data of the space on the user and the processes through which these sensations pass. The formal abstraction methods that interior architecture education indirectly provides students with are a guide for them to create the meaning and identity behind their designs.

Within the scope of this study, firstly, a literature review was conducted in which general semiotic methods were defined, and two student projects were selected as a sample to be analyzed. It covers the analysis of syntagmatic and paradigmatic elements that exist on these projects within the framework of Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic method. The outputs of the analyzed projects aim to reveal that interior architecture students are able to internalize and apply semiotic methods to design processes even without learning semiotic methods at the theoretical level. This study aims to emphasize the importance of integrating the concept of semiotics into the educational process in the discipline of interior architecture.
Cemre Demirci Esin Sarıman Özen Copyright (c) 2024 Sekizgen Academy https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2024-07-15 2024-07-15 4 1 11 26 10.53463/8genart.202400276 Digital Technology Use of Baby Boomers and Generation Z Adults and Intergenerational Digital Solidarity https://sekizgenacademy.com/journals/index.php/8genart/article/view/275
Increasing life expectancy and longevity in today's societies enable at least two generations to live together. This situation has made it important to examine the adaptation processes of different age groups to digital technologies. As digital technologies have become an integral part of daily life, how these technologies are adopted by different age groups has become an important subject of study. In this context, this study examines the use of digital technologies and intergenerational digital solidarity between the Baby Boomers (born between 1944-1964) and Generation Z (born between 1997-2012) adults. The study reveals that Baby Boomers (1944-1964) generation adults approach digital technologies more cautiously than Generation Z (1997-2012) adults and receive support from their relatives in the learning process, but when they adapt, they can solve problems independently. Generation Z, on the other hand, is a generation that has internalized technology as "digital natives", can adapt quickly and can easily use digital technology in all areas of their lives. This is despite the fact that Generation Z's dependence and commitment to technology is criticized by other generations. As a result, the use and adaptation of digital technology differs between Baby Boomers and Generation Z, but these differences bring about intergenerational digital solidarity and mutual assistance in learning processes. This solidarity allows for collective action in the digital world.
Sultan Kılıç Ümit Akca Copyright (c) 2024 Sekizgen Academy https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2024-07-15 2024-07-15 4 1 27 42 10.53463/8genart.202400275 Intellectuals, Ideology and Football https://sekizgenacademy.com/journals/index.php/8genart/article/view/277
Football is the most popular sport today, with ancient origins. This is why various countries have tried to trace its origins back to their own history. Initially, governments and intellectuals tended to ignore football. This was because of its violent nature, its potential power and its connotation of war. Later on, football became too important an industry to be ignored. Parallel to this, governments have tried to take advantage of football's ability to canalize the masses. Social scientists and intellectuals have also become more interested in football. Ideology-based definitions of football are valid for the ancient times of modern football. On the other hand, with the transformation of football into an ideology in itself, religious, class-based or ideological approaches have largely lost their meaning. In this study, this ideological transformation of football will be discussed.
Hüseyin Say Copyright (c) 2024 Sekizgen Academy https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2024-07-15 2024-07-15 4 1 43 54 10.53463/8genart.202400277 Deconstructive Reading of King Lear https://sekizgenacademy.com/journals/index.php/8genart/article/view/212
Deconstruction is a postmodern reading attitude against logocentrism which was developed under the representation of Jacques Derrida, questioning the immutable rules of western metaphysics and answering all of the definite meanings that can be inferred from text with doubt. In deconstructional readings, expressions and impressions from the text that seem to be certain should be analysed over and over again and the motion of the language should be interpreted knowing that the meanings can turn into different meanings. In this context, a deconstructive reading of Shakespeare's play, King Lear written in 1605 will be made in this study. In this reading, which is suitable for a deconstructive reading due to the abundance of intertextual references and binary oppositions such as good-bad, friend-enemy, husband-wife and many more, the development of Lear's place in the patriarchal family structure throughout the story, in which he takes place as a symbol of authority, and the similarity with the sub-stories, dementia and mood disorders, his journey from blindness to wisdom will be read with a deconstructive approach. The situations encountered by Lear in the cyclical trajectory of the text will be scrutinized. A reading will be conducted on the countless possibilities of the situations faced by Lear and family members. By examining the physical and psychological ramifications, events will be evaluated based on the infinite divergences of meaning they entail.
Nur Sinem Mete Copyright (c) 2024 Sekizgen Academy https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2024-07-16 2024-07-16 4 1 55 63 10.53463/8genart.202400212 Design Systematics In Metaverse Logic https://sekizgenacademy.com/journals/index.php/8genart/article/view/217
While the virtual universe and new media communication tools are being used so much, learning the design layers of the metaverse and what is systematics of metaverse, how it works, are very important points for architectural designers who want to understand how the representations of interacting real-world functions are simulated in real time by designers and make qualified design. If new media communication tools take up a large area as a concept, have an active user, and if they continue to be used in this way, it is also important in the future. In this study, we examined the design systematics and layers of the metaverse and examined how new virtual spaces are created and their impact on the future. In this research, we aimed to examine the design systematics in metaverse logic and how new virtual spaces are created and their impact on the future through examples. We touched upon how the design systematics basically consists of different layers in the metaverse logic. We analyzed under what conditions we would obtain positive or negative results when architects and interior designers pay attention to the design systematics and layers and take into account their own experiences and the experiences and feelings of the users while designing in the metaverse.
Deniz Yekta Yıldız İsmail Emre Kavut Copyright (c) 2024 Sekizgen Academy https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2024-07-19 2024-07-19 4 1 64 72 10.53463/8genart.202400217 Evaluation of The Relationship of Ergonomics And Biophilic Design Principles Through Library Design https://sekizgenacademy.com/journals/index.php/8genart/article/view/250
This study is about examining how biophilic design reduces ergonomic risk factors through library design. The study is important in that it is a descriptive study to draw attention to the fact that biophilic design principles increase the well-being of users by reducing ergonomic risk factors, to systematically examine library design within the scope of biophilic design principles, and to determine a direction about biophilic library design. This study aims to reveal that biophilic design not only reduces ergonomic risk factors but also improves mental and physical health. Document analysis was preferred to analyze the library in terms of biophilic design principles. With the findings obtained, deficiencies and ergonomic risk factors in the library's interaction with nature were identified and suggestions were made within the scope of biophilic design principles to improve them.
Turgut Kalay Copyright (c) 2024 Sekizgen Academy https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2024-05-15 2024-05-15 4 1 73 88 10.53463/8genart.202400250 Analysis of the Effects of Art Deco Architecture on the World and Turkey https://sekizgenacademy.com/journals/index.php/8genart/article/view/301
The concept that can be accepted as Art Deco architecture does not have form features, but the motivations and dynamics that form the form. Works of architecture have shown changes depending on place, time, and society. These changes are characterized as "style, style and form". The construction of styles progressed slowly in the Ancient Ages when stagnation and calmness prevailed. Stylistic changes varied with technological developments. It is difficult to distinguish styles within the current period, but it is necessary to examine past periods. However, it is possible to describe the style when looking at objects, settlements and structures in everyday life. In the 20th century, it is possible to characterize it as Modernism. The Modern movement in design and architecture is divided into fields within itself. Some of them are prominent while others remain in the shadows. Art Deco, which varies in culture, that is, in countries, the reflections of the world countries and the Republic of Turkey have been investigated. stated.
Tuğba Kömürcü Copyright (c) 2024 Sekizgen Academy https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2024-12-31 2024-12-31 4 1 89 106 10.53463/8genart.202400301 The Social Content Issues in Turkish Painting Between 1923-1960 Reflections in The Tables https://sekizgenacademy.com/journals/index.php/8genart/article/view/170
After The Turkish Republic founded in 1923, there have been intense studies in many fields of art, especially in painting. All the social and political developments, revolutions and social events have also affected the painters. Since the early years of the Republic, besides the subjects such as crops, harvests, threshing, tractors, peasants and farmers, Atatürk, the War of Independence and the revolutions have been among the subjects that have been extensively covered in paintings with social content. The art of painting was used as a tool in order to introduce and make the reforms popular to the public, and the artists produced works in the socialist realist direction. After the death of Atatürk in 1938, a new era began in Turkey and the Assembly elected Ismet İnönü as the President. During this period, the whole world was under the influence of the Second Word War. While new artistic formations were seen in Turkey in the 1940s, social realist painting gained meaning with the work of the Yeniler Group, which was established in 1941. The artists of the Yeniler Group, who questioned the groups before them, entered the public and produced works with social content. They approached the painting of working people and the environment they live in and observe within a social understanding of art. The works of some of the artists of the group were removed from the exhibition halls as they were seen as contrary to the national moral values. With the coming to power of the Democrat Party in 1950, the transition to the multi-party system and liberalization period began in Turkey. After this period, various trends are seen in Turkish painting art. Abstract paintings began to take the place of realistic paintings with social content in the 1940s. Although abstract painting was handled by many artists between the years 1950-1960, figurative and social-themed paintings continued to be processed with the beginning of industrialization and squatting. Some members of the Onlar Group, which was active in the early 1950s, and the artists of the Yeni Dal Group, which produced works similar to the realistic understanding of the Yeniler Group, also discussed social issues in their works during this period. In our study, the works dealing with social issues between the years of 1923 and 1960 will be examined in three parts as Atatürk Period (1923-1938), Ismet Inönü Period (1938-1950) and Democrat Party Period (1950-1960).

Keywords: Turkish Painting, Social Realism, Contemporary Turkish Painting.
Şerife Özge Açıkgöz A.
